Looking at the old photo postcard in her hand, she went back to that sad day.
Teary-eyed She had opened the door to see two Navy officers standing with a rusty metal trunk. She moved out of the way, and the men walked in. Carefully they placed the trunk in the middle of the living room. They bowed down, took their hats off, and helped themselves out. She slowly walked to the trunk. ‘Cdr Rajeev Singh‘ was written in bold ink.
Three months ago he had kissed her goodbye. He loved to travel, only this time the story was not happy. The memories, he didn’t share. Sheila’s life was filled with silence. With a heavy heart, she opened the trunk. She burst out crying as she took out his uniform and held it tight, close to her chest. What she saw beneath it, was only his camera on an old map, with three postcards that were trying to send her a message, trying to share a memory.
As she looked at the picture in her hand, little drops of tears fell over her broken smile.
