Each step he took was heavy, painful. The gash on his thigh looked like it was infested. He had a feeling that these were his last steps. Nobody to cry for him. He cursed the Gods for letting him be the only survivor. Eventually, his knees gave way. He fell on the ground. It was hard, made of stone. He couldn’t believe what he saw. It was a walkway.
His eyes followed the path through the eerie trees. He saw a glow, a light, from a window of a small rusty wooden house. He pulled himself up with difficulty and limped toward it, shouting, “Help, Anyone there?” As he got closer, the fog became thicker and the light, dimmer. The window seemed to be higher. “Help, Please”, he cried, crawling now. Darkness grew, as he inched closer. The wooden walls, he saw, were now lost in the night sky. The light was much higher than he had imagined.
With lost hope, he looked at the light, and suddenly, he felt a pull. Floating slowly, he was going higher toward the light. His eyes swelled up as he turned back to the ground. A limp body lay on the ground, motionless.

For a first attempt at flash fiction, you did an excellent job. Your description of his distressed state and how the light was higher and higher really pulled me in.
