Fireworks

Fireworks, frightened birds,

framed against a startled sky

a fleeting canvas, a tableau of life

moment of celebration, moment of strife.

I still hold the remnants of that picture

that time erased from the sky.

Was it just nature or sublime scripture?

Played out for my questioning eye.

Coz I’ve seen life in crowded places

everyone visits, no one stays

feeling trapped in the lights, lost in unlit spaces

in between being someone and being a face.

When our yesterdays are gone & our today’s are almost over,

when the need for some new journey has just begun,

We all leave home, but for how long is what really matters

coz time is the actual distance between people.
